Peer Review Policy

Imperium Académico Multidisciplinary Journal (IAMJ) adopts a double-blind peer review system, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers throughout the evaluation process. This model promotes objectivity, academic independence and impartiality in editorial assessments, in accordance with international standards of scientific quality and in keeping with the journal’s multidisciplinary scope and biannual publication frequency.

All manuscripts received are initially subjected to a preliminary editorial review. The purpose of this stage is to verify the manuscript’s alignment with the journal’s focus and scope, compliance with formal submission guidelines, the required academic structure and the originality of the content through similarity-detection tools. Only manuscripts that meet these criteria proceed to the external review stage.

Once the initial review has been successfully completed, the manuscript is generally sent to two independent external reviewers selected according to their academic expertise and research experience in the relevant field. Reviewers must disclose any institutional, professional, academic, personal or financial relationship that could constitute a conflict of interest and compromise the independence, objectivity or transparency of the evaluation.

Reviewers are selected according to the following criteria: one specialist with specific expertise in the manuscript’s central subject area and a second reviewer from a related or complementary disciplinary field. This selection process seeks to ensure both the technical depth of the analysis and the methodological clarity, argumentative coherence and scientific relevance of the manuscript. In cases involving highly specialised subjects or significant discrepancies between the reviewers’ reports, the Editor may appoint a third external reviewer to support the editorial decision.

Evaluations must be critical, objective, ethical and constructive, with the aim of improving the scientific quality of the manuscript and strengthening its academic contribution. All documents submitted for evaluation shall be treated with strict confidentiality. Reviewers undertake not to disclose or use the information contained in the manuscripts for personal, academic or professional purposes. Where additional technical consultation is required, prior authorisation must be obtained from the editorial team.

Stages and Timeline of the Editorial Process

Manuscript Submission

Once a manuscript has been submitted through the editorial platform, the author receives an automatic notification confirming its receipt and enabling them to track the progress of the editorial process.

Preliminary Editorial Evaluation

The Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor conducts the initial review to verify the manuscript’s alignment with the journal’s editorial scope, compliance with formal requirements and originality of content. This stage takes approximately 7 to 15 days. If the manuscript does not meet the established requirements, it may be rejected at this stage without proceeding to external review.

External Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that successfully pass the preliminary evaluation are sent to external reviewers under the double-blind peer review model. The estimated duration of this stage, including the communication of the first editorial decision, ranges from 20 to 45 days.

Communication of the Decision and Revisions

When reviewers recommend revisions, the author receives the evaluation reports together with the editorial observations. The revised version must be submitted within a maximum period of 15 days. It must be accompanied by a response document explaining, in a reasoned manner, the changes made or the reasons why a particular observation was not incorporated.

Additional Review Rounds

If the reviewers’ reports contain significant discrepancies or the manuscript requires substantial revisions, the Editor may request the intervention of a third reviewer or arrange an additional round of review, preferably involving the same reviewers.

Final Decision

The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript rests with the responsible Editor, who shall comprehensively consider the reviewers’ reports, the authors’ responses and the editorial criteria established by Imperium Académico Multidisciplinary Journal (IAMJ). Reviewers serve in an advisory capacity, and their participation does not guarantee acceptance of the manuscript.

Editing and Publication

Accepted manuscripts undergo language editing, technical editing, layout and preparation for digital publication. This process takes approximately 10 to 20 days following final acceptance. During this stage, the corresponding DOI is assigned under the institutional prefix 10.63969, and the article’s metadata are incorporated into the relevant registration systems. Final publication takes place within the corresponding biannual issue of Imperium Académico Multidisciplinary Journal (IAMJ), ISSN 3091-1877.
